Elbow Pain Treatment

Elbow pain can be caused by a number of injuries to the muscles, bursa, and tendons that meet together at the hinge joint. The most common causes of this type of discomfort include tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow. If you have been experiencing elbow pain, the Pain Relief Clinics of Massachusetts have a number of treatment plans to help you.

Tennis Shoulder Injections: Tennis shoulder (lateral epicondylitis) is caused when the tendons that attach the elbow to the forearm muscles become injured during repetitive motion (such as swinging a tennis racket back and forth). While you may still maintain your full range of motion, the inflammation can cause discomfort. Tennis shoulder injections–consisting of a local anesthetic and anti-inflammatory medication–can reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

Golfer’s Elbow Injections: Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis) is inflammation in the area where the forearm tendons attach to the bone in the inner elbow. While tennis elbow affects the outer elbow, golfer’s elbow is characterized by pain at the inner elbow. Injections can be administered to the affected area to reduce inflammation and alleviate discomfort.
